For those of you who miss that GREAT Army cooking: http://www.qmfound.com/army_subsistence_history.htm might whet your appetite. It's a series of links on the history of Army chow. Pay attention.
To tell the truth, I was looking for information on the great American potato peeler which each mess halls was so thoughtfully equipped. Simply add 50# of raw unpeeled potatoes, turn on the water, flip the switch, and presto, results are 10 # of semi-pealed potatoes! Remember? Bon Appetite!

| I remember the 504th's potato peeling machines. We were never allowed to use them on KP. It would have been too logical - better to have the KPers slave away at peeling the spuds. |

Man do I remember those potatoe peelers. One time while at Graf my buddy and I got KP so we put in a bag of potatoes and they came out looking like the ones you can buy in the can. We laughed for hours over that one.
