Have since been made aware that the pin I desctibed as a "P" with an anchor or whales split tail in fact is an insignia of the polish Underground. Still researching the rest.

I along with my Nerphew are researching my Father's past. I know he was stationed at Goeppingen as an MP. His name was Mieczyslaw Gniadek. I was hoping you would have a roster of possible men that were stationed and served there @ 1945-1950. My Father was a very quiet person so I really know not much of his experiences other than what was told to me by my Mother. Both of my parents are now deceased. Dad passed away in 1989, but I still have his hat and uniform jacket with the insignia sewn on the left sleeve. Near the shoulder there is a patch in the shape of a shield it is cut in half at a slant with the number 40 in the Grey field and the bottom half of the slant has the number 13 in a red field. Below this patch is a red bar outlined in what looks like silver thread. On the front right breast of the jacket there is a silver eagle and where the head is it has the letter G under it the letter T and below that is a star with a blue field w what appears to red stripes to the !
left and right. Curiously, there is also a small lapel pin that appears to be like the letter P that at the bottom splits like into an anchor or a whales tail split ? (Make sense?) Either way, I would appreciate any and all information you could send my way. I am 60 years old and through the encouragement of my nephew, who was also an MP in the Army, just stumbled upon your website and am excited that there may be something here? Also I remember in 1972 my parents and I traveled to Germany and we passed by the gates to the Base but if I remember correctly, I don't think my Dad wanted to go inside or he had some reservations? Gee I am just not sure. Well Thank You in advance for any and all info you can send my way.

ps : I have also since found out that the lapel pin is symbolic of the Polish Underground and he was in the 4013 unit?

Ronald Jenkins was in a realtionship with Sylvia Reinhardt in 1985. At this time Ronald was stationed in Germany, Gppingen (US Arny).

left a message in the guestbook, and had a brain-pfffft.....the one club I was trying to remember was the Eierschale. Oh my, what a good time was had by all. Anyone else remember??? How about the Pizza parlor in the building to the left of the Bahnhof as you left? Man, what I wouldn't give to taste one of those, and a beer again!!! Or the Wurststand across the street from there?? Pommes frites mit mayo, anyone?????

I went there many times while i was stationed at GERP usually after a night of drinking at the mausse falle anyone remember the mausse falle only got kicked out of the house 1 time which isgood considering how much we used to drink seen some of the most beautiful women ever in that place.was cheap 50 marks which was like 25 dollars sure would like to go back some day

I'm hoping someone can help me locate John Gregory.
John was stationed at Cooke Barracks, Goeppingen,
(approximately) 1948-1951.

Approximate age of John Gregory would be 83.
John was possibly a boxer for the Army Boxing Team.

In 1980 or 1981, John was invited as the Guest of Honor
to watch a boxing match between Club Olympia Goeppingen
and a USA team.

Anyone having any information on John would be greatly appreciated.

My son's visit to Cooke Barracks April 3, 2011

Hi folks..I was at Cooke in 1959 and 1960..504 Admin Co and worked in AG Ops for Mr Joyner in the basement of the building not far from the rifle range. My son was there today and I walked him around the base as it was back then. Most of the buildings are gone but quite a few were still up. Hanger still there and the MP station was going strong. Quite a feeling after being gone for 50+ years and having your son tell you about the place. He was really impressed with Gopp town and the stuff still there at the post. I think that he did quite a bit of exploring at the range, hanger, thinks he may have found one of the tunnels and lots of stuff in the corners. The folks at the GrunerBaum let him come in while they were closed and take some pics. When I get all the pics let me know and I'll send them to you.
